The Oilsands Review (November 2007) had an interesting article profiling, in some detail, three companies specializing in upgrading the heavy crude found in Canada's oil sands.
The three companies are:
ETX Systems (http://www.etxsystems.com/), founded by former Syncrude engineers Gerard Monaghan and Wayne Brown
Genoil (http://www.genoil.net/), with its Genoil Hydroconversion Upgrading (GHU) process
Ivanhoe Energy (http://www.ivanhoe-energy.com/s/Home.asp), with its Heavy to Light Oil (HTL) upgrader process
Use your Google® and Yahoo!® search skills to update the information. Remember to take advantage of your corporate librarian, if your company employs one, and the various information sources like ScienceDirect and Ebsco Academic that many companies subscribe to. You also might want to check the U.S. and Candadian patent databases.
