Can You Dig It? Pipeline Technology Conference 2022

Can You Dig It was a song released by the Mock Turtles in 1990. If you want to lay pipe but don’t want to dig it, you might consider trenchless technology.

Luckily for you, the NO DIG Berlin symposium has teamed up with the 17th Annual Pipeline Technology Conference (https://www.pipeline-conference.com/) this year.

Details from an email that landed in my inbox appear below.

TIP: Brush up on the basic concepts of trenchless technology by reading the Wikipedia article at:

The 7th Annual Digitalization in Oil & Gas Canada Conference is scheduled for April 27-28, 2022. Details appear below.

TIP: Whether or not you attend the conference, consider creating a Google® Scholar Alert to keep abreast of emerging trends in the digital technology of your choice. For, example …

Oil gas blockchain

Blockchain promises to help secure communications from outside actors. This can help make your operations more secure from malicious cybercriminals.

Google® Scholar Alerts are easy to create. Begin with a Google® Scholar (https://scholar.google.com/) search. Then click the Create Alert link to turn the search into an alert.

Here are conference details, as they appeared in an email that landed in my inbox …

THE FUTURE OF THE CANADIAN OILFIELD IS DIGITAL
The Energy Conference Network is pleased to return in 2022 with the 7th Annual Digitalization in Oil and Gas Canada Conference. Once again, attendees will gather to learn from digital pioneers who are shaping the future of the technological landscape, exchange ideas with like-minded peers and network with leading solution providers.

The Canadian oil and gas market is expected to remain robust throughout 2022 with production exceeding 2019, pre-COVID levels. Despite the strong forecast for growth, oil and gas companies are under increasing pressure to do more with less and refine existing business models.

Technologies such as IoT, machine learning, AI, digital twins, drones, automation, edge computing and blockchain are propelling the Canadian oil and gas industry to new heights. Furthermore, investment in digitalization is key recognized as enabling oil and gas companies to reduce their carbon footprint and get to net-zero emissions by 2050.

Digitalization is no longer an option, but critical in enabling Canadian oil and gas companies to drive production efficiency, lower risk, reduce costs and improve safety. Digitalization enables oil and gas companies to achieve benefits across their entire value chain - from exploration to development and production.

TOPICS TO BE DISCUSSED WILL INCLUDE:

Emerging tech trends shaping the future of oil and gas
Leveraging innovations in digitalization to achieve net-zero emission targets
Investing in technologies such as IoT, machine learning, AI, digital twins, drones, automation and blockchain
Use case examples of where digitalization has driven efficiency, lowered costs and improved performance
Harnessing Big Data across the value chain
Capitalizing on Digitalization to improve asset management and reduce downtime
    Offshore production and digital technologies

Back for the seventh consecutive year, the Digitalization in Oil and Gas Canada Conference will return in-person on April 27-28, 2022 in Calgary, with live streaming options available. Production has begun on the 2022 agenda, and now is the time to secure your place on the program.

Youth is wasted on the young (not): MIT 35 under 35

Those of us who are of a certain age like to say (or to think, at least) that youth is wasted on the young. Not so for MIT’s 35 under 35. These are the people who will help us humans continue to flourish as a species.

Nominations are open for the
35 Innovators Under 35 competition. If you know someone, or if you are someone, who might qualify, consider submitting a candidate for nomination.

Here are details from an MIT email that dropped into my inbox.

///////
The 35 Innovators Under 35 competition for 2022 is now open for nominations
We’ve been publishing a list of young innovators for more than two decades now. The list always includes fascinating stories of young people working to employ technology to make the world a better place, but beyond that it’s a way for us to showcase the technologies that will likely play a big role in all our lives in the coming years.
You’ve probably heard of many of the people we’ve selected over the years—Andrew Ng, Helen Greiner, Feng Zhang, Neha Narkhede, Ian Goodfellow, Stephanie Lampkin, Julie Shah, Joy Buolamwini. Many of these distinguished scientists, entrepreneurs, humanitarians, and businesspeople list the honor of being selected prominently on their bios.
Now you can be a part of our 2022 list by nominating someone (or even yourself) here. And for all the details and requirements please visit our frequently asked questions page
You can nominate great candidates from now until 10 p.m. EST on January 24, 2022.
Find out more about what we’re looking for here.
