Calling All Papers (Part 3)

“However beautiful the strategy, you should occasionally look at the results.” -- Winston Churchill (British Orator, Author and Prime Minister during World War II. 1874-1965)

The final tip in our “Call for Papers” miniseries is to create a Google® search strategy. In our example, we are pretending that you want to find Calls for Papers related to PETROLEUM.  You should modify the search strategy to focus on whatever particular topic interests you. So, instead of PETROLEUM, you might substitute, let’s say, SOLAR, if that is your area of expertise.

CALL FOR PAPERS: ASIAN DOWNSTREAM

“Time is but the stream I go a-fishing in.” -- Henry David Thoreau (American Essayist, Poet and Philosopher, 1817-1862)

Organizers of the 9th Annual Asian Downstream Week 26-27 October 2016, Singapore (http://www.downstream-asia.com/) have issued a call for papers.

Presenting a paper at a conference is, of course, a great way to promote your career.

TIP: If you find this event interesting, answer the call for papers … and be sure you are on the email list for future events.

Here is the text of the call for papers that arrived in my inbox …

///////
The 9th Annual Asian Downstream Week is re-invented to epitomize the transformation that refining and chemical industries are going through now.

Following the successful launch of operational excellence and supply chain optimisation themes last year, the 2016 event will further explore information technology innovations and dig deep into how digital manufacturing and automation technologies can help process operators achieve their throughput and efficiency priorities.

Are you leading the game of digital transformation in the following areas?
•Digital plant development
•Manufacturing process optimization
•A digital safety & environment strategy
•Next generation process automation
•IT/OT convergence
•Sensors & IOT
•Connectivity & security
•Supply chain innovations
•Planning & scheduling efficiency
•Big data in supply chain
•Virtualization
•Risk management
•Analytics & asset management
•Predictive maintenance
•Reliability strategies
•Energy management system
•Analytics & machine learning
•Building people capabilities for digital

We would like to hear from you.

We now invite you to submit abstracts around these themes for the 2016 Asian Downstream Week. The event will be held in Singapore from 26 – 27 October 2016 as part of Singapore International Energy Week (SIEW), hosted by Singapore Energy Market Authority (EMA).

Deadline for submissions: Thursday, 31 March 2016

Important parameters to note:
Preference will be given to presentations citing case studies and operating experience from the operators
Vendor presentations that are co-authored with operating companies are encouraged
All other vendor presentations will be considered on their merit and may be tied to a sponsorship package

Submit your abstract now and add your voice to the industry's most important gathering!

Kind regards,

CONFERENCE ALERT-Deep Space, Deep Ocean: The Mission Continues

“Sponges grow in the ocean. That just kills me. I wonder how much deeper the ocean would be if that didn't happen.” Stephen Wright (American Actor and Writer, b.1955)

Aramco’s second Deep Space, Deep Ocean Forum is scheduled for September 29-30, 2016, at the JW Marriott Houston. The basic concept is that, since both deep space and deep ocean are extreme environments, technology and practices developed for one may well have useful applications for the other.

Here is what the Deep Space, Deep Ocean Forum Web has to say for itself …

///////
Aramco is hosting its second Deep Space, Deep Ocean Forum (DSDO 2016) to continue the mission to advance industry excellence. The event is designed to bring together leaders from oil and gas, aerospace and other industries to discuss shared operational challenges – especially those that arise when working in harsh, remote environments – and also encourage them to collaborate on technological solutions for safety and reliability.

More than 500 senior executives, engineers, scientists, researchers, academics and others participated in last year’s inaugural event, which received a 98 percent favorability rating. A number of participants connected with technology partners and are currently working on projects.

The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) will continue as a major contributor in planning and participating in the 2016 event.

Get published with “calls for papers”
Most journals will regularly call for papers. These can be on a particular theme or topic, or a general call for submissions.
How to keep up with these
You can check if the journal you’re interested in has a call for papers by bookmarking this page, going to the “Submit” tab on Taylor & Francis Online, or signing up for regular updates in your subject area. You can then decide if the journal is for you, or adapt your article to fit the journal’s current focus.
