"If they don't give you a seat at
the table, bring a folding chair." -- Shirley Chisholm
When my mother was pregnant with my brother Leon, she and my dad were stationed
in post-war Germany. Dad was a captain in the Army Corps of Engineers, tasked
with helping that country clean up the mess and get back to normal. My mother
could have had an Army doctor deliver her baby. But because, in those days, a
husband was in charge of all medical decisions to be made on behalf of his
wife, my mother chose to have her baby in Switzerland, where the woman was
allowed to make those decisions.
My mother was a feminist before she knew she was a feminist.
So when I come across an event labeled Women’s Global Leadership Conference in Energy, I
get kind of excited. Because even though I was born a male, a lot of my mother’s
spirit rubbed off on me.
The Women’s Global Leadership Conference in Energy
(https://wglconference.com/) has
issued a call for abstracts for its next event, scheduled for November 1-2,
2023, Houston, Texas.
Deadline for abstract submission is May 12, 2023.
Since my professional background is as a librarian working in the oil and gas
industry, I find this conference to be particularly intriguing.
Enough about me … here are the details, based on an email that landed in my
inbox …
